Getting there

Walking

From the city center (e.g., Holy Trinity Column), head southwest on Horní Street, continuing onto Masarykova Street. Turn left onto Šmeralova Street and walk for approximately 1.5 kilometers (20 minutes). The Geopark is located on your left at Šmeralova 1122/12.

Public Transport

From Olomouc hlavní nádraží (main train station), take tram number 2 towards Neředín. After approximately 7 stops (around 15 minutes), disembark at the 'Šmeralova' stop. Walk straight for about 200 meters on Šmeralova Street to find the Geopark on your right at Šmeralova 1122/12. A single public transport ticket costs 18 CZK and is valid for 40 minutes on weekdays or 60 minutes on weekends.

Geopark Olomouc provides a unique opportunity to explore the geological history of the region through its collection of over 40 rock exhibits. Situated near the Faculty of Science at Palacký University, this outdoor park allows visitors to touch and examine rocks dating back 600 million years. The park is designed to be accessible and educational for everyone, regardless of their prior knowledge of geology.The Geopark features a diverse array of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, each remarkable in size, shape, and composition. Interactive displays offer concise information about the rocks and their origins in Moravia and Silesia. It serves as an outdoor classroom, a place for recreation, and a quiet escape.While offering a fascinating glimpse into the Earth's past, access to the Geopark may be limited in 2024 due to the construction of new underground water retention tanks in the area. Despite this, it remains a significant attraction, highlighting the region's natural history and geological significance.
