Discover more about DOX Centre for Contemporary Art

The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, located in Prague's trendy Holešovice district, stands as the largest independent institution focusing on contemporary art in the Czech Republic. Since opening in 2008, DOX has been a hub for exploring how art can transform everyday experiences. The center resides in a repurposed factory, a testament to cutting-edge contemporary architecture. Inside, visitors encounter a diverse range of media, including video, sculpture, photography, and painting. DOX's mission extends beyond mere display, aiming to ignite critical public discussion on important topics that shape the world. This is achieved through exhibitions, performances, film screenings, workshops, and educational programs. DOX's unique architecture includes the Gulliver Airship, a 42-meter long wooden and steel structure perched on the rooftop. This "parasitic" add-on, inspired by "Gulliver's Travels," symbolizes exploration and discovery. The airship hosts workshops and lectures, inviting guests to engage in unconventional settings. DOX offers a multifaceted experience, featuring exhibition areas, a multifunctional hall (DOX+), a design shop, a bookstore, and the Fine Art Archive. The center also provides educational programs for children, families, schools, and companies, making contemporary art accessible to all ages. DOX’s name is derived from the Greek word ‘doxa,’ representing a way of perceiving things, an opinion, or a conviction.
