Discover more about House at the Golden Ring

Located on Týnská Street in Old Town, the House at the Golden Ring is an architectural gem with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Originally two separate medieval houses, they were merged into one, bearing witness to Prague's evolution through the Gothic, Renaissance, and Classicist periods. The house earned its name from a legend about a ghost who lost a golden ring, which was then placed above the door to ward off evil. The House at the Golden Ring is now part of the Prague City Museum, hosting a permanent exhibition called 'Prague of Charles IV - the Medieval City'. This exhibit uses models, videos, and interactive screens to bring to life the transformation of Prague during the reign of Charles IV. Visitors can explore virtual and physical models of landmarks like Vyšehrad and Prague Castle, and even try on digital costumes. Another permanent exhibition, 'Prague 1606', offers a glimpse into life in Rudolphine Prague through a moving Sadeler Prospect. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events. Fragments of late Gothic murals and Renaissance details can still be seen within the building. The exhibitions thematically display paintings and sculptures by Czech artists, such as Toyen, Jan Zrzavý and Josef Šíma.
