    Discover more about Trojský zámek

Troja Chateau, known locally as Trojský zámek, is a magnificent example of Baroque architecture nestled in the quiet Troja district of Prague. Constructed between 1679 and 1691 for Count Wenzel Adalbert of Sternberg, it served as a summer residence, designed to bring a touch of Roman elegance to Bohemia. The palace is influenced by Italian and French architectural styles. The chateau features a grand staircase adorned with sculptures depicting the battle between gods and titans, setting the stage for the artistic marvels within. Inside, visitors can explore opulently decorated rooms with stunning frescoes, ornate furnishings, and a collection of 19th-century Czech art. The main hall showcases a spectacular ceiling fresco depicting the Apotheosis of the Habsburg dynasty. The meticulously manicured gardens surrounding the chateau invite leisurely strolls through a maze, terraced sections, and displays of sculptures and fountains. Once part of a larger estate including a vineyard and the Chapel of St. Klara (now part of the Botanical Garden), the gardens offer a serene escape. Today, Troja Chateau is owned by the city of Prague and is a cultural hub hosting art exhibitions and events.
