Villa Müller: A Functionalist Gem

Villa Müller, located in Prague's Střešovice district, is a remarkable example of functionalist architecture designed by Adolf Loos. Built between 1928 and 1930 for František Müller, a successful businessman, the villa embodies Loos's architectural philosophy of economy, functionality, and the rejection of excessive ornamentation. The villa's exterior presents a clean, white, cubic facade, typical of Loos's modernist style. This austere exterior contrasts sharply with the opulent interiors, which feature rich materials like marble, wood, and silk. The interior design showcases Loos's signature Raumplan concept, where rooms are arranged on different levels based on their function and importance, creating a dynamic and interconnected living space.
