Getting There

  • Car

    From Blackbird State Forest, head south on Blackbird Forest Road. Continue for approximately 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Merge onto Route 1 South. Drive for about 9 miles, then take the exit for Route 9 East toward Delaware City. Continue on Route 9 for about 4 miles until you reach Delaware City. Once in Delaware City, follow signs to Fort Delaware State Park, located at 45 Clinton St. Free parking is available near the park.

    From Blackbird State Forest, you will need to use a rideshare service or taxi to reach the nearest public transportation hub, which is the Delaware City Transfer Station. Once there, take the DART First State bus route 63 towards Delaware City. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the Delaware City stop. From the bus stop, it’s a short walk to Fort Delaware State Park, located at 45 Clinton St. Be sure to check the DART schedule for bus times as they may vary.
