Getting There

  • Car

    Start at Fort Delaware State Park and exit the park. Follow the signs to the ferry terminal and board the ferry to New Castle. Once you arrive in New Castle, exit the ferry and turn left onto Route 9 (also known as S. Delaware Street). Continue on Route 9 for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 13. Merge onto Route 13 North. After approximately 6 miles, take exit 152B for Route 72 East towards Newark. Continue on Route 72 for about 3.5 miles, then turn left onto Thompson Station Road. The entrance to White Clay Creek State Park will be on your right. The park office is located at 750 Thompson Station Rd, Newark, DE 19711.

    From Fort Delaware State Park, take the ferry back to New Castle. Once you disembark, walk to the nearest bus stop and board the DART First State bus route 64 towards Wilmington. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes and get off at the stop for Route 72 at the intersection with Thompson Station Road. From there, it’s a short walk (about 0.5 miles) to White Clay Creek State Park. The park office is located at 750 Thompson Station Rd, Newark, DE 19711. Note that bus fares may apply, so be prepared with cash or a DART card.
