Getting There
Walking
From the center of Lewes, head south on 2nd Street towards the beach. Continue straight as 2nd Street turns into Savannah Road. Follow Savannah Road until you reach the intersection with the Junction & Breakwater Trail, which is on your right. Enter the trail and follow it for about a mile. This scenic route will take you through wooded areas and alongside the canal. Once you reach the end of the trail, you will arrive at the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal, where you can enjoy the views of the water and surrounding nature.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, start at the Lewes Canalfront Park located at 211 Front Street. Head south on Front Street towards the beach, then turn left onto 2nd Street. Follow 2nd Street until it becomes Savannah Road. Look for the Junction & Breakwater Trail on your right. Take this trail and bike along it, enjoying the scenic views. After about a mile, you will reach the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal. There are bike racks available for you to lock your bike while you explore the area.
Public Transport
While there is no direct public transport to the canal, you can take the DART bus service that operates in the area. Board the DART bus at one of the stops in Lewes and ask the driver for the nearest stop to the Junction & Breakwater Trail. Once you get off, follow the walking path that leads to the trail entrance. Walk along the trail for about a mile, and you will arrive at the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal.
