Driving
If driving from White Clay Creek State Park, exit the park and head towards Route 896, following signs for Newark. Turn right onto Route 896 and continue for about 2 miles until the intersection with Old Baltimore Pike. Turn left onto Old Baltimore Pike and continue for approximately 1 mile; the entrance to Middlerun Bird Reserve will be on your left. Parking is free. There are no toll roads or parking fees.
Public Transport
To reach Middlerun Bird Reserve via public transportation from White Clay Creek State Park, take DART First State bus Route 33 or 40 to the nearest bus stop on Route 896. From the bus stop, walk approximately 0.5 miles to reach the entrance of the reserve. A single bus fare typically costs between $1.75 and $3.00, but check the DART First State website for the most up-to-date schedules and fares.
Walking
For those who wish to walk to Middlerun Bird Reserve from the main trails in White Clay Creek State Park, you can take the Yellow Trail towards Old Baltimore Pike. Once you reach Old Baltimore Pike, turn left and continue for about 1 mile until you see the entrance to Middlerun Bird Reserve on your left.
