Walking from Silkeborg town center
From central Silkeborg, walk or cycle to the Sculpture Park at Silkeborg Bad (approximately 2 kilometers, 20–30 minutes on foot). From the park, follow the marked Ørnsø Footpath, which is approximately 3 kilometers and takes 45 minutes to 1 hour. The final section involves a narrow woodland path ascending gently to Kroghs Bænk. The route is well-marked with white pictograms on poles. No entrance fee required.
Cycling via the Silk Route
The Silk Route is a 12-kilometer marked cycle and walking trail encircling central Silkeborg. Starting from Silkeborg Bad or any central point, follow the white pictogram markers. Kroghs Bænk is a designated viewpoint along this route. Total cycling time is approximately 1.5–2 hours depending on pace and stops. The route combines forest paths and paved sections. Suitable for hybrid or mountain bikes. No entrance fee.
Hiking the Almind Sø circuit
A 4-kilometer loop path encircles Almind Sø, with Kroghs Bænk positioned as a scenic highlight. Access points include the two bathing areas (Østre Søbad and Vestre Søbad) on the lake's eastern shore, approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of Ly Outdoor Camp. The circuit takes 1–1.5 hours and is suitable for all fitness levels, though the path to Kroghs Bænk itself is narrow and may be muddy or partially flooded during wet seasons. No entrance fee.
Parking and access by car
Drive to Silkeborg Bad (the art center and sculpture park) or to one of the Almind Sø bathing facilities (Østre Søbad or Vestre Søbad). Parking is available at both locations. From either point, proceed on foot via the walking routes described above. Approximately 20–45 minutes walking depending on starting point. No entrance fee to the viewpoint itself.
