Ferry and walk from Esbjerg
From Esbjerg, take the passenger and car ferry to Nordby on Fanø, a crossing that usually takes around 12 minutes and runs many times per day. A standard adult foot passenger ticket typically costs about 60–90 DKK return, while cars and larger vehicles are charged separately. Once you arrive at Nordby ferry terminal, Cafe Nord is within an easy, mostly level walk in the harbour area and is suitable for most visitors with basic mobility.
Car on Fanø island
If you bring a car on the ferry from Esbjerg to Fanø, the short sea crossing adds only about 15–25 minutes to your journey, plus boarding time. Vehicle fares vary with size but are generally in the range of 200–400 DKK return for a standard car, with separate tickets for passengers. After disembarking at Nordby, it takes just a few minutes to drive through the compact harbourfront area and park nearby, but spaces can be limited around lunchtime and in summer, so allow extra time during busy periods.
Bicycle on Fanø
Fanø is well suited to cycling, and bringing a bicycle on the Esbjerg–Fanø ferry is usually inexpensive, often adding only a modest supplement of around 20–40 DKK to a passenger ticket. The ride from the ferry landing in Nordby to Cafe Nord is short and essentially flat, following regular village streets. Surfaces are paved and straightforward, but be aware of local traffic and increased activity near the harbour during peak holiday seasons.
