Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Restaurant MUMM.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Ferry and on-foot from Svendborg
From Svendborg, take the passenger and car ferry to Ærøskøbing; the sailing typically takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes and runs several times a day, with adult tickets usually in the range of 150–250 DKK one way depending on season and whether you bring a vehicle. Once you arrive in Ærøskøbing, the harbour is only a short walk from the compact old town, and reaching Søndergade involves gently uneven cobblestones that are manageable for most visitors but can be tricky for some wheelchairs or prams.
Car and ferry from South Funen
If you are driving from elsewhere on Funen, head to Svendborg’s ferry terminal and board the car ferry to Ærøskøbing, allowing about 1 hour and 15 minutes for the crossing plus extra time for boarding and disembarking. Vehicle fares generally fall between 300–600 DKK each way depending on size, season and any offers. In Ærøskøbing, the old town streets are narrow and parking directly on the main lanes is limited, so many drivers leave their car in designated parking areas near the harbour or edge of town and walk the remaining 10–20 minutes through the historic centre.
Island bus from Marstal or Søby
If you are already on Ærø without a car, use the island’s bus services that connect Marstal, Ærøskøbing and Søby. Buses typically coordinate with ferry arrivals, and travel times to Ærøskøbing are usually 20–35 minutes depending on your starting point. Services can be less frequent in the low season and evenings, so check the day’s timetable and allow some margin if you plan a late dinner that finishes after the last bus.
