Discover more about Chaudière Pool

Chaudière Pool, often called a 'hidden gem,' is located in the northeastern part of Dominica, in Saint Andrew Parish. This natural pool is fed by the Hampstead River, which originates from Morne Diablotin National Park. The pool is carved out of grey rock and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The name 'Chaudière' comes from the Creole word for 'pot,' which describes the pool's shape. The pool's turquoise waters are ideal for swimming and cliff jumping. The surrounding rocks offer space for sunbathing and enjoying the sounds of nature. The hike to the pool goes through Dominica's unspoiled natural environment, with views of the Atlantic Ocean. Before European colonization, the local Kalinago people used this section of the Hampstead River as a gathering place for communal activities. Today, the pool is a meeting point for residents of Bense village, who maintain traditional swimming and fishing practices in these waters.
