If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the center of Santiago, a major city in the Cibao Valley. Head east on the Autopista Duarte (DR-1) towards Santo Domingo. After approximately 30 minutes, take the exit for San Francisco de Macorís. Continue on the DR-1 for about 1 hour until you reach the exit for the town of La Vega. From La Vega, follow the signs to Cueva de Santa Ana, which is approximately 20 minutes away. Be prepared for a short drive on unpaved roads before reaching the cave entrance. Make sure to have a GPS or a map handy, as some areas may not be well-marked.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Santiago to La Vega. Buses leave frequently from the main bus terminal in Santiago and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in La Vega, you will need to find a local 'carro público' (shared taxi) that goes to the vicinity of Cueva de Santa Ana. Let the driver know your destination; this part of the journey should take around 20 minutes. Be aware that the last part of the trip may require some walking or hitching a ride on a motorcycle taxi, as public transport doesn't go all the way to the cave. Total costs for the bus and shared taxi should be around 150-200 DOP.
