Walking
If you're in the historic Zona Colonial area, head east on Calle Las Damas towards Calle El Conde. Continue straight until you reach Av. Mella. Turn left on Av. Mella and walk for about 15-20 minutes. Mercado Modelo will be on your right at the address F4G5+3J8, Av. Mella.
Bus
From the Zona Colonial, you can catch a local bus (carro público) heading towards San Carlos. Board any bus with a sign indicating 'San Carlos' or 'Mella'. The ride will take around 10-15 minutes. Get off at the Mercado Modelo stop, which is near Av. Mella. The market is just a short walk from there.
Motoconcho (motorcycle taxi)
For a quicker option, you can take a motoconcho from anywhere in the city. Simply tell the driver 'Mercado Modelo' or show them the address. The ride should take about 5-10 minutes depending on traffic, and it's a popular way to navigate the city quickly.
Taxi
You can also take a taxi directly to Mercado Modelo. If you're starting from the Zona Colonial, the fare should be around 150-200 Dominican Pesos and the ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey, or use a rideshare app if available.
