Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Highland Valleys, head northwest on the main road towards Santo Domingo. Drive for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the road leading to San Carlos. Turn right and continue for about 10 kilometers. You will see signs for Cascada Maderos as you approach San Carlos. Follow the signs to the waterfall, which is located about 3 kilometers from the main road. Be mindful of the local roads, as some may be unpaved.

• Public Transportation

  Take a bus from the Highland Valleys bus terminal heading towards San Carlos. The fare is usually around $2. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in San Carlos, ask locals for directions to Cascada Maderos or look for signs. You may need to hire a taxi or a local transport service to reach the waterfall, which should cost around $5 to $10 for the short ride. Be prepared for a 3-kilometer drive from San Carlos to the waterfall entrance.

• Walking

  If you are already in San Carlos, you can walk to Cascada Maderos. From the center of San Carlos, head west on the main street until you reach the outskirts of town. Follow the path that leads towards the waterfall; it’s approximately a 3-kilometer trek. The trail is scenic but can be steep in some areas, so wear appropriate footwear.
