Getting There

  • Walking & Boat

    From Montaza Palace, walk east towards Corniche Road along the coastline for about 15 minutes until you reach the entrance of Al Montazah Park. Enter the park and follow the path towards the beach area. Tea Island is located just off the coast and is accessible by boat. Small boats are available at the designated boat station. The boat ride typically costs around 20 EGP per person, and the journey takes about 10-15 minutes.

    Taxis are readily available throughout Alexandria. A taxi ride from central Alexandria to Al Montazah Park, where you can access Tea Island, typically costs between 35-60 EGP, depending on traffic and negotiation. The tea kiosk was established during the reign of King Farouk I, with its construction and design supervised by the Egyptian architect Mustafa Pasha Fahmy in 1936. The "tea kiosk" was built in a rectangular shape in the Roman style. It is built of red bricks and cement. It has 4 facades, the most important of which is the southern one, and it is decorated with a large "Fronton". The facade is preceded by 4 marble statues. In the middle of the building is an open courtyard adorned with a marble fountain surrounded by a group of marble statues of women in different positions representing the four seasons. On the northern side of the island is a rocky area that contains a group of connected lakes for fish farming. It is connected by paved roads, one of which extends to the lighthouse and overlooks the royal marina.
