Private Guided Tour to Esna Temple from Luxor
A Temple Buried Alive
Esna is a temple that was effectively buried alive by the town above it, and that is exactly what makes it fascinating. You descend from street level into a pit of columns, the noise of traffic fading with every step, and the carvings that greet you are dense, layered, and still faintly coloured. Our guide explained the symbolism clearly and let us linger wherever we wanted, which is rare on any tour. Short drive from Luxor, comfortable car, no pressure, no crowds. The most unusual half-day of the entire trip.

Excellent experience with deep dive into ancient Egyptian history
We had our trip from Luxor to Aswan through Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo with our driver Meena and our guide Mr. Smiley. Meena was an excellent driver talking us through busy roads and desert roads alike. Our guide Mr. Smiley was an excellent guide with many years of experience. At each of the temple, he explained the cultural and historical aspects of the monuments with detailed explanations of the different scenes that were depicted on the walls and pillars of these ancient temples. He was patient with our questions which helped us understand the temples deeper. It was a great experience and I would recommend it anybody who wants to take the same trip.
