Public Transport

The Cairo Tower is accessible via the Cairo Metro. Take Line 2 (the red line) to the Opera station. From there, it's approximately a 15-minute walk to the tower, or you can take a short taxi or microbus ride. The metro fare is around 5 EGP per ride. Public buses and minibuses are also an option, with fares typically between 9 and 17 EGP. Bus stops are usually indicated in Arabic.

Taxi

Taxis and ride-sharing services offer direct access to the Cairo Tower. A taxi ride from downtown Cairo should cost approximately 30-50 EGP, depending on traffic. Ensure the meter is running or negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem are also readily available.

Walking

From the Cairo Opera House, it is possible to walk to the Cairo Tower. Head east from the Cairo Opera House, cross over to Gezira Island and continue straight. The walk is about 15 minutes.

Cairo Tower, or Burj al-Qahira, is an iconic landmark on Gezira Island in the heart of Cairo. Standing at 187 meters (614 feet), this concrete tower was the tallest structure in Egypt for many years and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sprawling city. Designed by Egyptian architect Naoum Shebib and completed in 1961, its design evokes a pharaonic lotus plant, a significant symbol in ancient Egyptian culture.Visitors can ascend to the observation deck via a swift elevator ride to witness a stunning 360-degree vista of Cairo. On a clear day, the views extend for up to 40 kilometers, revealing landmarks such as the Egyptian Museum, the Nile River, the Citadel, and even the distant pyramids of Giza. The tower also features a revolving restaurant at the top, providing a unique dining experience with ever-changing views of the city. The restaurant completes a full rotation in 70 minutes.Originally built to serve as a telecommunications tower and a symbol of Egypt's engineering prowess, the Cairo Tower has become a major tourist attraction. It offers a blend of historical context and modern entertainment, making it a must-see destination for anyone visiting Cairo. The tower is open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
