Car

To reach the Temple of Abidos by car, start from Cairo. Take the Ahram Street to the Ring Road, then merge onto the Cairo - Aswan Road (National Road 1). Follow the signs for Sohag as you drive south (approximately 500 km). Once you reach Sohag, continue on the road until you see signs for El Balyana. The temple is located at 5WM9+WH, El Balyana, Sohag Governorate 1611020. There is parking available near the temple, but be prepared for a small fee, typically around 10 EGP.

Public Transportation

For public transportation, start at Cairo’s Tahrir Square and take a bus to Sohag. Buses operated by GoBus or SuperJet run frequently, and the journey takes about 8 hours costing approximately 150 EGP. Upon arrival in Sohag, head to the local bus station and take a microbus to El Balyana. This microbus ride will take about 30 minutes and should cost around 20 EGP. Once you arrive in El Balyana, follow the local signs or ask for directions to the Temple of Abidos, located at 5WM9+WH.

Taxi

If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Sohag to the Temple of Abidos. This taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and should cost around 100 EGP. Make sure to negotiate the fare before getting into the taxi to avoid any misunderstandings.
