Getting there

Public Transport

To reach the Al Wadi Al Gadid Desert using public transport, take a bus or microbus from Al Wadi Al Gadid (New Valley) to the nearest town, which is Farafra. The bus ride will take approximately 3-4 hours. Once in Farafra, hire a local taxi or arrange a 4x4 vehicle to take you to the White Desert. This will cost approximately 200-300 EGP for a round trip, and the journey is about 30 kilometers and will take around 1 hour.

Car

From the entrance of White Desert National Park, drive south towards the الصحراء البيضاء. Follow the main park road, which is well-marked. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will see signs indicating the direction to الصحراء البيضاء. Continue driving for another 10 kilometers until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which leads directly to الصحراء البيضاء. The total driving distance from the entrance to the الصحراء البيضاء is around 40 kilometers, and it should take about an hour. Ensure your vehicle is equipped for off-road driving, as some sections may be sandy.

Guided Tour

Consider booking a guided tour from Farafra or the entrance of White Desert National Park, which typically includes transportation to الصحراء البيضاء. These tours often provide a 4x4 vehicle and a knowledgeable guide who can enhance your experience. Prices vary, but expect to pay around 600-1000 EGP per person, which usually includes meals and entry fees. Tours usually last a full day, allowing ample time to explore the stunning landscape.
