Car
If you are driving to reach Mt Alkhala peak, start from the town of El Tor. Navigate to the coordinates 28.451703, 33.9339801 using a GPS. From El Tor, head southeast on the main road (Route 30). Follow the road for approximately 15 kilometers, and look for signs indicating the trailhead for Mt Alkhala. There is a designated parking area near the trailhead where you can leave your car. Make sure to check for any local parking fees, which are typically around 10-20 EGP.
Public Transportation
To reach Mt Alkhala peak using public transportation, take a microbus from El Tor to St. Catherine. The microbus station is located near the city center. Once you arrive in St. Catherine, you will need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a guide, as public transport does not go directly to the peak. The taxi ride from St. Catherine to the trailhead will take about 30 minutes and should cost around 100-150 EGP. Ensure you agree on the fare before the journey.
