Ferial Garden: A Historic Oasis in Port Said

Ferial Garden, also known as Al-Ferial Garden, is a cherished public space in Port Said, Egypt, with a rich history dating back to 1869. The garden was inaugurated on the same day as the Suez Canal opening and named in honor of Princess Ferial, the eldest daughter of King Farouk. Its strategic location near the Suez Canal has attracted notable figures throughout history, including Empress Eugenie of France and Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria. Covering approximately 21,904 square meters in the Al-Sharq district, Ferial Garden provides a green oasis amidst institutional, commercial, and residential buildings. Over the years, the garden faced neglect but was revitalized through a restoration project, becoming a model for the 'Gardens without Fences' initiative. Today, visitors can enjoy lush lawns, flower beds, and tree-lined avenues, along with public art and seating areas. A red windmill stands at its center, and murals depict the city's history.
