Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from San Salvador, take the Pan-American Highway (CA-1) towards Santa Ana. Continue on CA-1 for approximately 70 kilometers (about 1 hour). Take the exit towards Sonsonate and follow the signs for Avenida Morazan. The Sonsonate Cathedral will be located at the intersection of Avenida Morazan and Calle Obispo Marroquin. Parking is available on the streets nearby, but be aware of local parking regulations.

  To reach Sonsonate Cathedral by public transportation, you can take a bus from San Salvador. Go to the Terminal de Occidente (Western Bus Terminal) and look for buses heading to Sonsonate. The bus fare is approximately $1.50 and the journey will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Sonsonate bus terminal, it is a short 10-minute walk to the cathedral. Exit the terminal, head east on Calle Salazar, and turn left onto Avenida Morazan. The cathedral will be on your right.

  For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi or a rideshare service like Uber from anywhere in Central Region. Make sure to provide the driver with the address: Avenida Morazan & C. Obispo Marroquin, Sonsonate. The cost will vary based on your starting location, but expect to pay around $30 to $50 from San Salvador. The ride will take about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic conditions.
