Car
From Lake Coatepeque, head southeast on the CA-1 highway. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers (about 20 miles) until you reach the exit for San Salvador. Follow signs toward San Salvador and merge onto the CA-4. After about 18 kilometers (11 miles), take the exit toward Volcan de San Salvador. After exiting, follow the signs leading to the Volcano entrance. Be cautious of the winding roads as you approach the volcano.

To reach Volcan de San Salvador from Lake Coatepeque using public transport, first, take a bus from Lake Coatepeque to San Salvador. Buses leave frequently and the fare is around $1.50. Once you reach the main bus terminal in San Salvador (Terminal de Occidente), look for a bus heading to the 'Volcan de San Salvador' or 'Los Planes de Renderos' area. The fare for this leg is approximately $0.50. After disembarking, you will need to either walk or take a taxi for the final stretch to the volcano entrance, which may cost you around $5.
