Experience Parque Nacional Cerro Verde

Getting There

  • Car

    From Lake Coatepeque, head southeast on the CA-1 highway. Continue for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the junction for the CA-8 road towards Cerro Verde. Turn left onto CA-8 and follow the signs for Parque Nacional Cerro Verde. The park entrance will be on your left after about 15 kilometers. Please note that there is an entrance fee of $1.00 per person.

    To reach Parque Nacional Cerro Verde from Lake Coatepeque using public transportation, first, take a bus from Coatepeque to San Salvador. The buses depart frequently and the fare is about $1.50. Upon arriving in San Salvador, transfer to another bus heading towards Cerro Verde. This bus will take you directly to the park entrance. The total travel time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on transfer times. Note that the bus fare to Cerro Verde is around $0.75.
