Car
From the main town center in Seraye, head south on the main road towards Nefasit. The drive is approximately 30 kilometers and should take around 45 minutes. Look for signs indicating the direction to Nefasit. Once you reach Nefasit, follow the local signs to Debre Bizen Monastery, which is situated on a hill just outside the town. You may need to ask locals for specific directions as the signs might not be in English.
Public Transportation
Catch a bus or shared taxi from Seraye to Nefasit. These are commonly available at local transportation hubs or bus stations. The fare should be relatively inexpensive (around 20-30 Nakfa). Upon arrival in Nefasit, you can either walk to Debre Bizen, which is about a 30-minute walk from the bus stop, or hire a local taxi for a more comfortable journey to the monastery, which should cost around 50 Nakfa. Be sure to confirm the fare before getting in.
Walking
If you enjoy hiking and have the time, you can walk from Nefasit to Debre Bizen. The trail is approximately 3 kilometers uphill, which will take about an hour. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry plenty of water, especially if it's a hot day. As you approach the monastery, the views of the surrounding area are quite scenic.
