Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Harar Jugol (the old walled city). From the main entrance of Harar Jugol, head southeast towards the main street. Continue walking along this street until you reach the intersection with the main road, which is called 'Bole Road'. At this intersection, turn left. Walk straight down Bole Road for about 10 minutes until you see the large, colorful market area (known as the Harar Market) on your right. Imam Ahmed Square is located just a short distance beyond the market, directly across from the main mosque. It will be visible as a large open space with benches and a few trees.

    If you are near the Harar National Museum, exit the museum and turn right onto the nearest street. Walk straight for about 5 minutes until you reach a T-junction. Here, turn left and continue walking for about 8 minutes. You will pass a few local shops and cafés on your way. After reaching the intersection with Bole Road, turn right. Imam Ahmed Square will be located on your left after a short walk, right across from the main mosque.

    From the Harar Bus Station, exit the station and turn right onto the main road. Walk straight for about 15 minutes, passing by various local shops and eateries. Keep an eye out for the large market area on your left. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Bole Road. At the intersection, turn left and walk a few minutes further. Imam Ahmed Square will be on your right, directly across from the main mosque.
