Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Harar City. Head southeast on the main road (A1) towards Babile. The drive will take approximately 1 hour. Continue on A1 until you reach the junction where you can turn left towards Babile town. Follow the signs to Babile Rock Formation, which is located approximately 17 kilometers from Babile town. The road is well-marked, but be cautious of local traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Babile Rock Formation by public transportation, take a minibus from Harar City to Babile. These minibuses leave regularly from the central bus station in Harar. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Babile, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the rock formation. The taxi fare should be negotiated beforehand, but expect to pay around 100-200 Ethiopian Birr for the round trip, depending on your negotiation skills. Make sure to return to Babile town before sunset, as public transport may be limited after dark.
Walking
If you are already in Babile town and prefer to walk, you can hike to the Babile Rock Formation. It is approximately a 5-kilometer walk from the town center. Follow the road leading south out of Babile and look for signs leading to the rock formation. Be prepared for some elevation changes, and ensure you have enough water and sun protection for the hike.
