Car
If you are driving within Mago National Park, head towards the southern region of the park. From the main entrance of the park, take the road leading south until you reach the junction where the road splits. Continue along the main road for approximately 15 kilometers, following any directional signs towards Gelta. As you approach Gelta, keep an eye out for any local landmarks or guides that can offer assistance. Once you are near the coordinates XHMH+X6C (5.9849276, 36.5780072), you will find Metser. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as there are limited refueling options within the park.
Public Transportation
To reach Metser using public transportation, first make your way to the nearest town or village with bus services, such as Jinka. From Jinka, look for a minibus or shared taxi that is heading towards Gelta. The fare should be relatively inexpensive, usually around 50-100 Ethiopian Birr, depending on the distance and negotiation skills. Once you arrive in Gelta, you may need to hire a local guide or taxi to take you the final few kilometers to Metser (coordinates XHMH+X6C). Be prepared to pay an additional fee for this service, which can range from 200 to 500 Ethiopian Birr based on distance and vehicle type.
Walking
For the adventurous traveler already in the vicinity of Metser and looking to explore on foot, you can hike from nearby campsites or lodging within Mago National Park.
