Car
If you are traveling by car within Mago National Park, start from the park entrance and head towards the Mago River. Follow the main road that leads south toward the village of Kara Dus. After approximately 15 kilometers, you will come to a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which will lead you directly to the coordinates 5.1926° N, 36.2072° E (Nymgatom). The road conditions may vary, so be cautious and drive slowly, especially during the rainy season. Parking is available near the site.
Public Transportation
To reach Nymgatom via public transportation, you will need to take a shared taxi or local bus from the nearest town or village within Mago National Park, likely from Kara Dus. Look for a bus or taxi heading south towards the main road. Inform the driver that you want to stop at Nymgatom, as they might not be familiar with the specific location. The fare is usually around 50 Ethiopian Birr. Once you reach the area near the coordinates (5.1926° N, 36.2072° E), you may need to walk a short distance to reach the exact location.
Walking
If you are already in close proximity to Nymgatom and prefer to walk, navigate towards the coordinates 5.1926° N, 36.2072° E. From Kara Dus, take the main footpath leading south, which will guide you through some beautiful scenery. The walk is approximately 3 kilometers and should take around 45 minutes to an hour. Ensure you have sufficient water and wear appropriate footwear, as the terrain can be uneven.
