From Simien Mountains National Park, head southeast towards the town of Debark. Follow the main road (Ethiopian Highway 2) for about 60 kilometers until you reach the town of Gondar. From Gondar, continue on the Ethiopian Highway 2 towards the north, going approximately 130 kilometers until you reach the town of Shire. Once in Shire, take the road towards Birkuta, where Kafta Sheraro National Park is located. Ensure you have a map or GPS as some areas may not be well-marked. The entire journey may take around 5 to 6 hours depending on road conditions.

From Simien Mountains National Park, travel to the nearest town of Debark. Here, you can find a bus station where you can catch a bus to Gondar. Buses run regularly, but it’s advisable to check the schedule as times may vary. Once you arrive in Gondar, you will need to take another bus to Shire. The journey from Gondar to Shire typically takes about 3 to 4 hours. Upon reaching Shire, you can hire a local taxi or take a minibus to Birkuta. The cost for the bus from Debark to Gondar is around 50 Ethiopian Birr, and from Gondar to Shire, it may cost about 100 Ethiopian Birr.
