If you're driving from the center of Welayta, head north on the main road towards Addis Ababa. Continue on this road for approximately 40 kilometers (about 1 hour). Look for signs indicating Tiya, which is located just off the main road. Turn left at the sign for Tiya, and follow the road for about 2 kilometers until you reach the Tiya World Heritage Site. From the center of Welayta, take a minibus to the nearest major town, which is Sodo. Once in Sodo, head to the minibus terminal and look for a minibus heading to Tiya. The fare is usually around 30 Ethiopian Birr. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Tiya, you may need to walk about 1 kilometer to the actual heritage site.
