Walking
Start your journey at the center of Strendur, near the bus stop. Head west on the main road, Route 1, towards the village of Saltnes. After approximately 1 km, you'll reach a junction. Take a left onto Route 10, which leads towards the Sornfelli mountain area. Continue walking on Route 10 for about 4 km. As you walk, you will pass through scenic landscapes and small farms. Keep an eye out for the trail signs indicating Sornfelli. After about 4 km, take the uphill trail that branches off to your right, which will lead you directly to the mountain peak of Sornfelli. The total walking distance is approximately 5 km, and it should take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
Biking
If you prefer to bike, start at the center of Strendur and rent a bike from a local shop. From the center, head west on Route 1, towards Saltnes. After about 1 km, take a left onto Route 10. Continue biking on Route 10 for approximately 4 km. The path is mostly flat but may have some gentle inclines. Look for trail signs that guide you towards Sornfelli. Once you reach the point where the trail branches off to the right, park your bike and hike up the trail to Sornfelli, which is about an additional 1 km uphill. The entire trip should take around 2 to 2.5 hours depending on your biking speed and how long you spend hiking.
Public Transport and Hiking
From the center of Strendur, take the local bus heading towards Saltnes. The bus stop is located near the main square. Ride the bus for about 10 minutes until you reach the Saltnes stop. After getting off, follow the trail signs that point towards Sornfelli. The hike from Saltnes to Sornfelli is about 3 km and involves some uphill walking. The total journey using this method will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your hiking speed.
