If you are traveling by car, start from the main town of Tvøroyri on Suðuroy Island. Head north on Route 1 towards the village of Hvalba. Continue on Route 1 for about 10 kilometers until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork to continue on Route 1 towards the village of Húsavík. After approximately 5 kilometers, take a left onto Route 27, which leads to Hvannhagi. Follow Route 27 for about 8 kilometers, and you will see signs for Hvannhagi. There is parking available near the start of the hiking trail.

Public Transportation
To reach Hvannhagi via public transport, first take a bus from Tvøroyri. Check the local bus schedules, as they may vary. You will want to take the bus that heads towards Hvalba and then transfers at Hvalba to a bus going to Húsavík. From Húsavík, you can catch another bus heading to the Hvannhagi area. Be sure to ask the bus driver to drop you off at the closest point to the hiking trail for Hvannhagi. Note that bus services may not run frequently, so plan your trip accordingly.

Once you arrive at the parking area or the drop-off point from the bus, you'll need to hike to reach Hvannhagi. The trailhead is well-marked and begins just behind the parking lot. The hike to Hvannhagi is about 2 kilometers and takes roughly 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, so take your time to enjoy the scenery along the way.
