    The final approach to Hvannhagi is primarily on foot. From the ferry terminal in Tvøroyri, walk up Sjúkrahúsbrekkan road. Just beyond the hospital, a pedestrian path leads to a wooded area. The path enters the gated wooded area and then goes up a slope, joining the paved Ovari Vegur road. Follow Ovari Vegur road northwest, passing farmsteads. After about 1.5km, you'll reach a gate with a 'no car/no motorcycle' sign. Pass through the pedestrian gate and continue following the path, marked with orange posts, for approximately one hour to Hvannhagi. There are parking options near the hospital. This hike is moderately challenging.

    To reach Hvannhagi using public transport, take the Smyril ferry from Tórshavn to Tvøroyri on Suðuroy Island. The ferry ride takes approximately 2 hours. From the ferry terminal in Tvøroyri, it's best to walk to the Hvannhagi trailhead. Follow the walking directions from the ferry terminal (see 'Walking' guidance). A one-way ferry ticket from Tórshavn to Suðuroy costs approximately 120 DKK.
