    From Sigatoka Town Center, walk south on Main Street, passing the Sigatoka Market. Continue to Cuvu Road, turn left, and walk for approximately 2 km. Look for the sign for Volivoli Beach; inquire at the resort for directions to the cave, a short hike along the coastal path.

  • Public Transport

    From Nadi, take a local bus towards Cuvu. The bus ride costs around FJD 2-5 and takes about 30-40 minutes. From Cuvu, walk approximately 20 minutes to Volivoli Cave at RFRJ+4W9. Check local bus schedules for accurate timings.

  • Car

    From Denarau Island, drive southeast on Denarau Road towards Viti Levu. Continue onto Queens Road, then turn left onto Cuvu Road. Drive for about 2 km; Volivoli Cave is on the right at RFRJ+4W9, Cuvu. GPS is recommended.

This natural wonder, whose name translates to "sand" in the local dialect, offers a unique blend of geological intrigue and historical significance.Formed over millennia by the erosive power of water, the cave boasts impressive chambers adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, creating a mesmerizing subterranean landscape. Sunlight filters through the entrance, casting ethereal shadows that dance across the cave walls, enhancing the sense of mystery and adventure.Beyond its geological beauty, Volivoli Cave is an important archaeological site, holding remains of extinct megafauna, including a crocodilian, tortoise, giant iguana, snake, frogs, birds, a giant megapode, and a giant pigeon, dating back 20,000 to 25,000 years. Three human burials, fragments of adzes, pottery, and shells have also been discovered, revealing the cave's use by early inhabitants. A man-made wall near the entrance hints at a time when Yadua Village was located above the cave.While exploring, be mindful of the delicate ecosystem and historical treasures within. The cave is open daily, offering ample time to appreciate its beauty.
