Puurijärvi-Isosuo National Park, located in the Satakunta and Pirkanmaa regions of Finland, covers 27 square kilometers of diverse natural landscapes. The park's landscape is characterized by open bogs, dense spruce and pine forests and the shallow, nutrient-rich Lake Puurijärvi. Isosuo, meaning 'large bog,' features moss-covered hummocks, dwarf birches, and small pools. Boardwalks allow visitors to explore without disturbing the delicate environment. Puurijärvi-Isosuo is a significant bird-watching destination, attracting enthusiasts to observe wetland and migratory birds. Lake Puurijärvi is a key nesting and feeding site for various waterfowl, including the Eurasian bittern, whooper swan, and common crane. The Kärjenkallio bird watching tower, one of the largest in the Nordic countries, offers panoramic views. The park offers several short trails suitable for day trips, guiding hikers through mires and to bird wetlands. Camping is allowed near the campfire site and in the lean-to shelter. During winter, the park transforms into a serene landscape for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. However, there is no winter maintenance on the trails.
