Car
If you are traveling by car, you can drive from central Helsinki to Lauttasaari. Start on Mannerheimintie and follow signs for E18. Take the exit towards Lauttasaari and follow Lauttasaarentie, which will lead you directly onto the island. There is free parking available in various locations on the island, but be sure to check for any parking restrictions.
Public Transportation (Bus & Metro)
To reach Lauttasaari using public transportation, take the Metro from Helsinki city center (any station on the M1 or M2 line) towards Ruoholahti. Get off at Ruoholahti station. From there, transfer to Bus 20 or Bus 21, both of which will take you directly to Lauttasaari. The bus ride takes about 10-15 minutes. A single ticket on public transport costs around €2.80 for adults.
Public Transportation (Ferry)
If you are exploring the archipelago and want a scenic route, consider taking a ferry to Lauttasaari. Ferries operate from the main ferry terminal in Helsinki, which is located at the Market Square (Kauppatori). Check the schedules for ferry departures to Lauttasaari, which usually run in the summer months. The ferry ride offers beautiful views of the archipelago and costs approximately €5.00 for a round trip.
