Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Helsinki Central Station, exit the station and head towards the main street, Kaivokatu. Turn left onto Kaivokatu and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Mannerheimintie. Cross Mannerheimintie and continue walking straight onto Aleksanterinkatu, which will take you towards Senate Square. As you walk, you will pass several shops and cafes. Keep walking until you see the impressive Helsinki Cathedral in front of you. Senate Square is right next to the cathedral.

Tram
From the Helsinki Central Station, you can take tram number 3, 4, or 7. Board the tram at the stop called 'Rautatientori'. Make sure to validate your ticket before boarding. Stay on the tram for about 5 minutes, and get off at the 'Senate Square' stop. Once you disembark, you will find yourself at the square, which is dominated by the magnificent Helsinki Cathedral.

Metro and Walking
From any metro station, take the metro towards 'Ruoholahti' and get off at 'Kaisaniemi' station. Exit the station and walk towards the north. Follow the signs to the University of Helsinki. Continue walking straight on the street called 'Kaisaniemenkatu' until you reach 'Kaisaniemenpuisto' park. Cross through the park and head towards 'Aleksanterinkatu'. Once you reach Aleksanterinkatu, turn left and continue walking until you see the Helsinki Cathedral. Senate Square will be adjacent to the cathedral.

If you're coming from the surrounding areas, take a bus to the 'Kaisaniemi' bus stop. Once you get off, walk east towards the University of Helsinki, and you'll see 'Kaisaniemenpuisto' park. Walk through the park and head towards 'Aleksanterinkatu'. Turn left when you reach Aleksanterinkatu and follow the road until you find yourself at Senate Square, right next to the Helsinki Cathedral.
