Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, take the E75 highway and follow the signs for Lieksa. Once in Lieksa, look for signs leading to Koli National Park. The park entrance is located at approximately 63.0999° N latitude and 29.7999° E longitude. Parking is available at several designated areas within the park, but note that there may be a parking fee of around €5 per day.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Koli National Park via public transportation, first take a bus to Lieksa from Helsinki or Joensuu. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 5-6 hours. Once in Lieksa, you can take a local bus (Koli bus) that operates between the bus station and Koli National Park. Check the local bus schedule for times and routes, as they may vary. The local bus fare is approximately €5.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you are already inside Koli National Park and want to explore further, there are well-marked hiking trails that connect various viewpoints and attractions. For example, from the Koli Visitor Centre, follow the signs towards Ukko-Koli, which is a popular hiking route. The trail is well maintained and provides beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. It is advisable to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water, as the trails can be challenging.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Lieksa and ride to Koli National Park. The roads leading to the park are scenic but be prepared for some hills. Ensure you have a bike lock and plan your route using a map or GPS. There may be a bike rental fee ranging from €10-€20 per day.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Lieksa to Koli National Park. This option provides convenience and can save time. Taxi fares can be higher, so expect to pay between €30-€50 for the trip, depending on traffic and exact locations.
