Discover more about Elämyspiha PikkuKili

Elämyspiha PikkuKili, translating to 'Little Kili Adventure Yard,' is a charming zoo nestled in the serene landscapes of Kelvä, near Lieksa, Finland. Since opening in 1993, PikkuKili has offered visitors a chance to connect with animals and nature. The zoo is home to over 200 animals during the summer, ranging from domestic farm animals to more exotic species like llamas and emus. Visitors can easily explore the 11-hectare grounds, which are designed to be accessible for those with limited mobility. A highlight is the 22-meter high observation tower, providing panoramic views of the surrounding North Karelian hills, Lake Pielinen, and Koli National Park. Beyond the animals, PikkuKili offers various activities, including a playground, swimming in a pond with a water trampoline, fishing for salmon, and several 'kotas' (traditional Lappish huts) for picnicking. A kiosk sells refreshments and souvenirs. For a longer stay, visitors can rent cabins and experience the tranquility of the animal park. The park's history is also interesting; before becoming a zoo, the site was a dairy farm from 1895 until 1993. The third generation of the family has been developing the area since 1970, adding electricity in 1975 and building the barn in 1974.
