Discover more about Albert Edelfelt Studio Museum

The Albert Edelfelt Studio Museum offers a unique window into the life and work of Albert Edelfelt (1854–1905), a prominent Finnish painter who gained international recognition. Located in Haikko, near Porvoo, the museum resides in Edelfelt's original studio, built in 1883, where he spent 26 summers and created over 220 works. Edelfelt's mother, Alexandra, first rented a summer villa in Haikko in 1879, and Albert quickly fell in love with the landscape. He found endless inspiration in the Porvoo archipelago and its residents, leading him to build his studio. The bright red studio has been restored to its original format and now displays a selection of Edelfelt's drawings, photographs, and belongings. Visitors can explore Edelfelt's artistic journey, from his early historical narratives to his later plein air paintings. The museum showcases a collection of his works, including portraits, landscapes, and artifacts that offer insight into his personal life and creative process. In 2019, Villa Albert was completed in the courtyard, providing a space for temporary exhibitions and a museum shop.
