Bus
To get to Senate Square in Helsinki from Porvoo, start by heading to the Porvoo bus station, which is located in the city center. Look for the bus service operated by OnniBus or VR that goes to Helsinki. The bus ride takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Helsinki bus station (Terminaali 2), exit the station and walk towards the metro station. From there, take a metro train to the 'Kaisaniemi' station. After exiting the metro, follow the signs to the 'Helsinki Central Railway Station.' From the railway station, it's a 10-minute walk to Senate Square. Head southwest on Kaivokatu towards the square, and you will see the iconic Senate Square ahead.
Train
From Porvoo, you can take a train from the nearest train station, which is in Järvenpää or Sibbo. First, take a bus from Porvoo to Järvenpää. Once at Järvenpää station, take a train towards Helsinki. The train ride will take around 30-40 minutes. Arriving at Helsinki Central Station, exit the station and walk towards the 'Kaisaniemi' area. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk to Senate Square. Just follow the signs towards the city center and you will arrive at the square.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Porvoo and ride towards Helsinki. The distance is approximately 50 km and could take around 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Take the road towards Highway 7 (E18), which has a designated bike path. Upon reaching the outskirts of Helsinki, follow the signs towards the city center. Once in the city, navigate to Senate Square by heading towards the iconic Helsinki Cathedral which overlooks the square.
