Start at the Rovaniemi city center. From the Rovaniemi Tourist Information Center located at Korkalonkatu 25, head north on Korkalonkatu until you reach the bridge over the Kemijoki River. Cross the bridge and continue straight on Ounasvaara Road (Ounasvaarantie). Follow this road for about 2 kilometers until you see signs for Ounasvaara. Turn left onto the Ounasvaara Nature Trail. The lean-to shelter firecamp is located along this trail, which is well-marked and will lead you directly to the site.

From any location in Rovaniemi, make your way to the nearest bus stop and take Bus number 8 (Ounasvaara) from the central bus station (Rovaniemen linja-autoasema).
