Travel Guide to Mantsi Shallows

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Kitee. Head southeast on Muotkanmutka toward Kitee-Pyhäselkä road (Route 6). Continue on Route 6 for approximately 10 kilometers, then turn left onto Mantsi road. Follow Mantsi road for about 5 kilometers until you reach Mantsi Shallows, which will be on your right. Parking is available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  For public transportation, take a bus from the Kitee bus station to Kitee-Pyhäselkä. Buses run regularly, and the trip takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Kitee-Pyhäselkä, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers along the shoreline to reach Mantsi Shallows. Ensure to check the bus schedule on the official transport website to confirm times and any potential costs.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Mantsi and prefer walking, you can follow the local trails that lead to Mantsi Shallows. The area is well-marked with signs, and it offers beautiful views of the lakes. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear for the terrain.

• Bicycle

  Cycling is another great way to enjoy the scenery. Rent a bicycle in Kitee and take the same route as you would by car, but on two wheels. The distance from Kitee to Mantsi Shallows is about 15 kilometers, which should take you approximately 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace. Ensure you have a bicycle lock if you plan to stop at Mantsi Shallows.
