Car
If you are driving from Savo to Helsinki Market Square, start by heading to the nearest highway (E4 or E75) to connect to the Helsinki direction. The journey will take approximately 3-4 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Helsinki, take the exit towards 'Keskusta' (the city center). Follow signs for the 'Eteläranta' area. You will find parking options nearby, but be aware that parking fees may apply, typically around €2-€4 per hour.
Train
To travel by train, find your way to the nearest train station in Savo. Book a ticket to Helsinki Central Station (Helsingin päärautatieasema), which is well connected to various regions. The train ride takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at Helsinki Central Station, exit the station and walk towards the 'Rautatientori' square. From there, you can take tram number 4 or 7 to 'Kauppatori' (Market Square). The tram fare is approximately €2.80.
Bus
If you prefer traveling by bus, check the schedules for long-distance buses departing from your location in Savo to Helsinki. Companies like OnniBus or Matkahuolto operate this route, with travel times ranging from 3 to 4 hours. Once you arrive at the Helsinki bus terminal, walk towards the center and take tram number 4 or 7 from 'Kauppatori' stop. The bus ticket usually costs around €20-€30.
Public Transport from Helsinki Central Station
After arriving at Helsinki Central Station, you can also take a short walk to the Market Square. It is about a 15-minute walk from the station. Head towards Mannerheimintie, then continue straight until you reach the waterfront area. The Market Square is located at Eteläranta, 00170 Helsinki. This option is free if you prefer a pleasant stroll.
