From downtown Gainesville, head to the nearest bus stop at the Gainesville Regional Transit System (GRU) stop. You can take the Route 1 bus towards the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center. After approximately 20 minutes, transfer at the stop near the intersection with US-441. Then, catch the Route 19 bus heading towards Fort White. This bus will take you towards your destination. Get off at the nearest stop to Rum Island Springs County Park, which is located at the intersection of SW Rum Island Terrace. Walk about 5 minutes south to reach the park entrance.

Bicycle
You can rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Gainesville. Start by heading south on SW 13th Street, then turn east onto SW 20th Avenue. Continue straight until you reach US-441. Cross the street and follow the bike path along the highway heading towards Fort White. This route is approximately 15 miles and should take about an hour. Once you reach the entrance of Rum Island Springs County Park, park your bicycle in the designated bike racks.

Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and up for a long walk, start from downtown Gainesville and head south on SW 13th Street. Continue walking for about 5 miles, then take a left onto SW 20th Avenue and follow it east until you reach US-441. Cross the highway and continue south for another 2 miles. Make a right onto SW Rum Island Terrace and walk approximately 1 mile to reach Rum Island Springs County Park. This trek is about 8 miles in total and will take around 2 to 2.5 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!
