Car
From central Lake Okeechobee, head east on US-441 N toward E North Park St. Continue for about 6 miles until you reach the junction with FL-78 E. Take a left onto FL-78 E and continue for approximately 12 miles. You will then come to a traffic circle; take the second exit onto McArthur Rd. After 3 miles, Hickory Hammock Wildlife Management Area will be on your right at 4900 McArthur Rd, Basinger, FL 34972. There is no entry fee to access the area.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in the Lake Okeechobee area. However, you can take a Greyhound bus or a local taxi service to Basinger. Once you reach Basinger, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Hickory Hammock Wildlife Management Area at 4900 McArthur Rd. Be sure to check the availability and schedule of the public transport in advance, as they may not run frequently.
