Car
If you're driving, start on Periwinkle Way (the main road through Sanibel Island). From anywhere on the island, head towards Periwinkle Way. Follow Periwinkle Way east until you reach the intersection with Lighthouse Road. Turn right onto Lighthouse Road, which will lead you directly to the Sanibel Lighthouse. There is parking available close to the lighthouse area, although it may cost around $5 per hour.
Bicycle
For a scenic ride, consider renting a bicycle. Sanibel Island is very bike-friendly, with many bike paths. If you're near the Sanibel Island bike path, head towards Periwinkle Way and then follow the same directions as for driving. It's about a 3-mile ride from the center of the island, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transport, you can use the local trolley service, which operates throughout Sanibel Island. Catch the trolley at any designated stop and ride towards the Lighthouse stop. The fare is typically around $5 for a full day pass, allowing you to hop on and off at various attractions. Once you disembark at the Lighthouse stop, it is a short walk to the Sanibel Lighthouse.
Walking
If you are staying nearby, walking to the Sanibel Lighthouse is a pleasant option. From the nearest hotel or rental, walk towards Periwinkle Way and then turn onto Lighthouse Road. It's approximately a 15-20 minute walk depending on your starting point, and you'll be able to take in the beautiful surroundings of Sanibel Island as you go.
